The Quarantine Poems

I have a post-it tacked to the vision board in my office that stares me in the face every day. “Life is suffering…and yet…” I came across this idea – rooted in Buddhism – a few years ago and it’s become one of my most sacred mantras.

Suffering, pain, trauma. It’s inescapable and universal. My writing is my attempt to find growth and beauty through suffering. I’m slowly learning that beauty will always be there if I allow myself the courage (and patience) to look for it.

I wrote “The Quarantine Poems” at the beginning of COVID as a way to reconcile my darkness and seek out light.

Hoping my words might help you seek out light beyond your darkness.

  1. Libby, in my humble opinion, there is much to be learned from Buddhism and other Far Eastern religions and/or philosophies. I have done some reading in those religions/philosophies. The word that stands out to me after those readings? Peace.
